Vision of Pais:Thailand
Thailand has a very individual culture, amazingly beautiful, deeply historic and hugely captivating, the Thai's are extremely proud of their culture. However one of the main reasons for the people of Thailand being so resistant to the message of Jesus is their perception that Christianity is a Western religion.
We believe that we are here not to bring our western culture but to bring a kingdom culture. |
|
| |
 |
We're not here to bring Christianity or Jesus to this nation, He is already here, we just want to point out Jesus in Thailand. He's in the beauty of nature and Thailand has some wonderful landscapes, He's in the awe inspiring sunsets and also found in the welcoming smiles of the Thai people.
So we're not so much here to share or show the message of Jesus but to bring awareness of Him where we are. |
| |
| Our vision is not just to make people aware of God in Thailand but throughout all of Asia. |
| |
 |
Over the next 3-5 years we'd like to strategically place teams throughout South East Asia. We're currently networking to see teams placed in the capital of Thailand, Bangkok and the northern province of Chiang Mai.
We're looking to places teams in many nations throughout the region. Current possibilites include Singapore, Malaysia and the Phillipines.

| History of Pais Thailand |
|
|
Est. 2006, Pais:Thailand is the first team in Asia and was also the first non-western Pais nation, in many respects we are still breaking new ground in the schools of Thailand.
Pais:Thailand is currently based on Phuket Island and has recently experienced a massive amount of interest from interns wanting to experience our adventure.
|
| |
| Over the last 6 months we've doubled in size, we're reaching 50% more young people and spending more time with these young people building lasting relationships. |
| |
 |
After entering our third Thai Academic year, the 2 teams are regularly working with over 450 young people and pupils every week in 8 youth communities. The teams work in both Thai and International schools, Universities and in the local children’s homes. The national directors are also being sought after for the training of hotel staff on the island. |

Hotel Consultancy
|
After being in Thailand for less than a year the Pais Thailand directors were approached by many of the local 5 Star Hotels to help them improve their services to families and their children. Through this work the directors have been able to train over 300 Thai staff on basic child care principles and health and safety.

| # Metro:track |
| Team members in Thailand currently join a metro:track consisting of 2 teams working out of the church allowing the teams to have a greater intensity of relationship on the young people and their communities. |
| |
| # Touch:Base |
| A huge part of what we do here in Asia is about social concern as a part of Pais:Thailand you will get the opportunity to work with children & young people who have been marginalised by society. Pais:Thailand interns currently have the opportunity to work closely as well as live and do life with children from a local home. |

NB. Interns on Pais:Thailand do not need to have experience in cross-cultural teaching or teaching English as a foreign language, just a willingness to try new things and learn, most of the schools and youth work is done with translators.
